Why Choose Us?
About Blooming Keepsakes
Your flowers carry a moment you’ll never get back and preservation is a one chance process. That’s why choosing the right studio matters.
Flower preservation is growing quickly, and not all methods (or results) are equal. The difference often comes down to three things: how your blooms are preserved, how they’re protected long-term, and the level of finishing detail.
What to look for before you book
If you’re comparing studios, here are a few helpful questions to ask — because a keepsake should still feel beautiful years from now.
1) Longevity & colour protection
Preserved flowers can gradually fade or shift in colour over time if they aren’t properly stabilised and protected before being sealed into a frame or resin piece.
Ask your artist:
-
What steps do you take to help minimise long-term colour fading or colour shift?
-
Do you use any colour-setting or stabilising process before resin or framing?
2) Preservation methods (and equipment)
Different flowers respond differently, and a studio’s process and equipment can greatly impact the final look — especially shape retention, vibrancy, and overall finish.
Ask your artist:
-
How will my specific flowers be preserved?
-
Do you use professional equipment such as freeze-drying, or other drying methods depending on the blooms?
3) Finish quality & detail (the part most people miss)
A beautiful keepsake is more than “flowers in resin or frames.” It’s the clarity, the edges, the layout, and the way it looks up close.
Look for details like:
-
Whites that still look bright (not creamy or yellow)
-
Reds that still look rich (not overly darkened)
-
Minimal micro-bubbles and clear petals (not cloudy or translucent)
-
Smooth, refined resin edges (not sharp)
-
Clean bases and polished finishing
Ask your artist:
-
How do you help prevent whites from yellowing or reds from darkening?
-
How are your resin edges finished — sanded only, or precision-finished and polished?
-

What is Freeze Drying?
Freeze drying is an advanced method of flower preservation that involves removing moisture from fresh flowers while they are in a frozen state.
The process is also known as lyophilization, and is the most advanced method for preserving flowers, as it allows them to retain their shape, color, and texture.
During the freeze-drying process, flowers are arranged on trays and placed into a freeze-drying chamber. The chamber is then sealed, and a vacuum is created inside. This causes the moisture within the flowers to freeze, locking it into the cellular tissue of the flowers. The vacuum then pulls the frozen moisture out of the flowers in the form of vapour, which is then collected on a refrigerated ice condenser.
This process of sublimation converts the moisture from a solid to a vapour and then back to a solid, resulting in dry flowers that retain their natural appearance.
Freeze drying flower preservation is a popular method for preserving wedding bouquets, funeral flowers, and other sentimental floral arrangements. It is also used in the commercial flower industry to preserve and transport delicate flowers for longer periods of time
